Revised/Resubmitted Manuscript Checklist

• Prepare the following files:
  1. Revised manuscript with no highlights, to be submitted as the main document.
  2. Revised manuscript with changes highlighted in colored text (blue or red preferred), to be submitted as a supplementary file. Do not use the track changes mode in MS Word.
  3. Document “reply to reviewers” listing all reviewers’ comments and a detailed response to each comment, to be submitted as a supplementary file. If you disagree with reviewers’ comments, supply supporting evidence. In order to expedite the processing of your manuscript, please be as specific as possible in your response to review comments.
• Log into the IEEE Author Portal and enter your Author Center. Click on “Manuscripts with Decisions,” and then, as applicable, click “Create a Revision” or “Create a Resubmission” located next to the manuscript number. Then, follow the steps for uploading your revised manuscript and supplementary files.

• Copyright and Clearance

It is the policy of the IEEE to own the copyright to the technical contributions it publishes. To comply with the IEEE copyright policy, authors are required to complete an electronic IEEE Copyright Form during the final files submission process. IEEE must assume that material submitted to its publications is available for general dissemination. It is the responsibility of the author, not the IEEE, to determine whether disclosure of the material requires prior consent of other parties and, if so, to obtain it. Do not repeat figures that were published in non-IEEE publications, including conferences, unless you obtain and forward a copyright release.

• Final Files
  • Please submit all final files through the “awaiting final files” queue in your Author Center in IEEE Author Portal.
  • Please make sure your final package is correct and complete upon submission. Once you have completed the submission of your final files you will not be able to make changes until you have received page proofs from the IEEE.
  • All files should have unique file names in order for them to export successfully to IEEE (i.e., Manuscript ID_FileDescription.xxx [JERM-2017-0X-XXXX_Fig1.doc]).
  • The files should include:
    1. A Latex or Microsoft Word source file. This file must include keywords/index terms. If you choose to include bio sketches and photos, they should also be included within this file. Failure to submit a source file will result in publishing delays.
    2. A PDF of your complete manuscript (figures, tables, and photos must be incorporated within the text). A PDF is NOT sufficient for publication. Please make sure to submit the source file detailed in Step 1 above.
    3. Separate files for each figure (including your graphical abstract), table, photo (including author photos), and multimedia materials (if applicable).Follow the guidelines in IEEE Graphics FAQ. The acceptable formats of figures are PS, EPS, PDF, PNG, and TIFF. High-resolution JPGs are acceptable for author photos only. IEEE Author Digital Tool Box provides additional tools and instructions such as Graphics Checker Tool and instructions on how to include multimedia in your paper. When using vector graphics (e.g., PDF), remember to embed all fonts. Otherwise, parts of the graphic may be distorted or missing when viewed on other computers, and the vector graphics will be rasterized with lower resolution.
    4. IEEE has moved to an electronic copyright submission system. Once you have submitted your final files, a link titled “transfer copyright” will appear in the “manuscripts with decisions” queue in your author center. Please complete it at this point.
    5. Once the final manuscript is checked and accepted by the Editorial Assistants, it will be sent to IEEE Transactions/Journals Department for typesetting. The contact author will receive an email to proofread. Please respond promptly within the time frame and make corrections if needed. IEEE does not send finalized proofs to authors unless requested by authors when making corrections. J-ERM is a rapid-post publication. This means that author corrections are attended to and completed on the day they are received and the finalized paper is then sent to Xplore for online publication. This version then becomes the article of record, and for copyright purposes, cannot be revised thereafter.
