Atif Shamim received his M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Carleton University, Canada, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He was an NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Graduate Scholar at Carleton University from 2007–2009 and an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow from 2009–2010 at the Royal Military College of Canada and KAUST. In August 2010, he joined KAUST and is now chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program and principal investigator of the IMPACT Lab.

His research work has won best paper awards at major IEEE conferences, and his students have won several design competitions. He has served as Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE AP-S (2022–2024), won the King’s Prize for inventors and the gifted (2018) for his work on sensors for the oil industry, and was awarded the Ottawa Centre of Research Innovation (OCRI) Researcher of the Year Award in 2008 in Canada. His work on wireless dosimetry won the ITAC SMC Award from the Canadian Microelectronics Corporation TEXPO in 2007. Prof. Shamim has also won numerous business-related awards, including 1st prize in Canada’s national business plan competition and OCRI Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010. He is an author/co-author of one book, three book chapters, and more than 400 international publications. He is an inventor on 40 patents and has given over 120 invited talks at various international forums. His research interests are innovative antenna designs and their integration strategies with circuits and sensors for flexible and wearable wireless sensing systems through a combination of CMOS and additive manufacturing technologies. He is a fellow of IEEE and has served on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (2013–2019), IEEE Journal of Electromagnetics, RF and Microwaves in Medicine and Biology (2020–2024), and as a guest editor for IEEE AWPL Special issue (2019). He was appointed as editor-in-chief for IEEE JERM for three years beginning in 2026. He has served as an administrative committee member for IEEE AP-S (2025) and is currently serving as the founding chair of IEEE AP-S TC-8 (Wireless Communications) and vice chair of IEEE AP-S MGA Committee.

J.-C. Chiao received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. He was a Research Scientist in the Optical Networking Systems and Testbeds Group at Bell Communications Research and Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at University of Hawaii, Manoa. Dr. Chiao was a Product Line Manager and Senior Technology Advisor at Chorum Technologies before he joined the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002, where he was the Janet and Mike Greene endowed Professor and Jenkins Garrett Professor of Electrical Engineering. Currently, Dr. Chiao is Professor and Mary and Richard Templeton Centennial Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University.

Dr. Chiao has been general chair for several international conferences including IEEE IMBioC18. He served as Chair in the IEEE MTT-S Technical Committee 10 Biological Effect and Medical Applications of RF and Microwave and Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques. Dr. Chiao was the recipient of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Excellence in Engineering Teaching Award; Tech Titans Technology Innovator Award;Research in Medicine award in the Heroes of Healthcare; IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Engineering Educator award; IEEE MTT Distinguished Microwave Lecturer; IEEE Sensors Council Distinguished Lecturer; 2017 SPIE Fellow; and 2011 O’Donnell Award in Engineering from The Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas.

Yongxin Guo received his B.Eng. and M. Eng. degrees from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and his Ph.D. degree from City University of Hong Kong, all in electronic engineering. He is a Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), where he is also the Laboratory Supervisors for the MMIC Modelling and Packaging Laboratory & the Antennas and Scattering Processing Laboratory. Concurrently, He is Director, Center for Peak of Excellence on Smart Medical Technology at NUS Suzhou Research Institute. He has authored or co-authored over 460 international journal and conference papers and 4 book chapters. He holds over 30 granted/filed patents in USA, China and Singapore and some of them have been licensed to industries. His current research interests include RF sensing, antennas and electromagnetics in medicine; wireless power for biomedical applications and internet of things; wideband and small antennas for wireless communications; and RF and microwave circuits and MMIC modelling and design.

Dr. Guo was the recipient of 2020 IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters Tatsuo Itoh Prize of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S); Design Contest Award of the 20th International Symposium on Low Power Electronics and design, Rome, Italy, 2015; Best Poster Award at 11th International Conference on Wearable & Implantable Body Sensor Networks, Zurich, Switzerland, 2014; 2013 Raj Mittra Travel Grant Senior Researcher Award; and 2009 National University of Singapore Young Investigator Award. He is an IEEE Fellow. He has served as the IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee for IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (2019-2020). Dr Guo is the Chair for IEEE AP-S Technical Committee on Antenna Measurement in 2018-2020 and is serving as Associate Editor for IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine. He served as Associate Editor for IEEE Journal of Electromagnetics, RF and Microwave in Medicine and Biology (2017 – 2020), Electronics Letters (2015-2019), IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (2013-2018), and IET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation (2014-2017). He has served as General Chair/Co-Chair for several international conferences including IEEE MTT-S IMWS-AMP 2020, APMC 2019, AWPT 2017, ACES-China 2017, IEEE MTT-S IMWS-AMP 2015 and IEEE MTT-S IMWS-Bio 2013. He has served as Technical Program Committee (TPC) co-chair for IEEE MTT-S IMBioC 2020, IMWS-AMP 2017/2019 and RFIT2009.
